The last, and eventful day in Bologna...

Our last full day in Bologna was clear and sunny, and a balmy 20C...perfect walking around weather! Dora, as usual, has researched where to go, and I followed along like the trained puppy that I am. The library was our destination this morning, an art store, and what turned out to be, the BEST DAMNED PIZZA YA EVER HAD!!!! The Library...well, it's a very cool old place. Lots of art, sculpture, and almost everything except books. Never saw a single book...

Not a single book...hmmmmmmmm. Anyway, after the library, Dora needed some more paper at the art store, off we went. I didn't go in, but we were here yesterday when it was closed...flowers, remember these?

Dora also researched the best pizza in Bologna...Now we're talkin'...

That pizza was do die for...OMG, the crust was crazy flavourful, and light...yummmmmmm! Anyway, on the way back to the hotel we saw this...

We saw this too, but I'm not sure what it is...

Did you know they still have payphones in Italy?

When we got back to the hotel, we heard a bunch of noise down in the street...

At first we thought it was all jsut to arrest this one guy...

...but no, there was a demonstration for the Liberation of Palestine going on in the park down the street...

We thought there was going to be a riot cuz the cops appeared to be gearing up...

It seemed to be led by this young woman...

The demonstration came and went without a problem...

Tomorrow, Venice.

Bologna...better, or worser?

Certainly better than Florence...but not comparable to Soriano, Bologna is a huge city! And typical of Italians, they love their churches! At last count, they have 2 churches for every person...and they have some of the biggest oens I've ever seen...churches too!

We went back to the mercato for lunch, and ran into Keanu, so he had lunch with us...

I had the green stuff with ham!

Keanu was busy, so we parted ways, and we went to the big square they have here...

...and Dora decided to do a drawing in front of this building...

...I went inside the big-ass church (one of the ones I showed you already), and when I came out, Dora had a crowd gathered around watching the magic she was putting down on the page! These two young guys wanted sex, so I had to straighten them out...thankfully, the second guy was in a wheelchair..

...but this gentleman might have gotten lucky if I hadn't shown up...

We heard the statue of Neptune was close by...

Whoever did it, obviously had a sense of humour...

I was running out of gas by this time, but there was this flower...

Dora hasn't gotten nearly enough credit here. She kept me from initiating several mass casualty events in Florence, especially at the train station, and car rental return!!! She did ALL the driving, and patiently listened to my bitching...only backhanded me three times in Florence!!! That's got to be some kinda record!

I try to get her drunk so that she won't kill me...it's worked so far!

Italy is uniquely INFURIATING.

We are very fortunately on the train to Bologna...not because they made it easy, on the contrary, Italy makes it as difficult as posible! We got to the station early...BIG MISTAKE! Italy doesn't do anything early...always late! They posted the train platform 5 minutes prior to departure...but it was the wrong platform. Oh ya, well, that happens...the train we wanted was 6 platforms away, and we just barely made it...that explains why everything is late, all the info is WRONG!!! Except for the first week in Soriano, I'm kind of hating Italy. The only people who aren't rude are the tourists who are fighting the same battle we are...did I mention I'm kind of hating Italy? Ok, ok...I've calmed down...we have a nice hotelroom in Bologna, and they have big ass churches here too! Boy, they sure love those big churches...

We didn't get the breakfast they said they would serve on the train, so we took the 5 mile trek to some mercado Dora had scoped out, for lunch! They sold pretty nice fruit, and veggies too...

Bologna is very modern compared to the other places we've been...

We decided to go out for a beer at, what turned out to be a biker bar that the mayor of Bologna was campaigning at...

...and, of course, the assistant mayor...

Just to be safe, we left before the shooting started!
