Lost in Lima!

We made it to Lima, which I pronounce Lima...like lima beans...ha, gotcha didn't I?  Do you know that unlike Cusco, it's summer in Lima (like the bean)...it's hot here!  By the time we got to the hotel and unpacked, it was time to eat!  45 steps in some direction got us to Mercado...but not like the mercado in Cusco...this is the $150.00 lunch for 2 Mercado...Lima (like the bean)!  Of course I got to have lunch with Dora, and it was a pretty good meal...sort of...kinda...

We only had a beer each, and retraced the 45 steps in some direction back to the hotel.  I went up on the roof just in time to get the sunset...
...and dark coming to Lima (like the bean)...
Next day we decided to go downtown to the historic section.  Go figure...they have churches there!

...and this Jesus guy figures prominently....
There are other buildings there too...I guess they're ok...

Who knows what that is...I'm not a history teacher!  Anyway, Dora had a police escort while sketching...
Lima (like the bean) is not without it's curious things...like have you ever wondered what the guts of an old building look like?
And is this a door knocker with knockers....a door knocker knocker?
...and who would name a fairly large truck The Big...
And this needs no explanation, Dora tells me this all the time!
That night we took the advice of the night manager and went to another restaurant...gave the address to the cab driver...off we went.  It was a half hours walk in Miraflores (where we are)...cab driver took us to another town without us knowing.  Ya, I know that sounds bad, but Lima (like the bean) is a big city...they kind of run together.  We got there and two big trucks were where the restaurant would be, so we couldn't see the restaurant.  Cab goes, we walk around the trucks...NO F'N RESTAURANT!!! WTF?  So we wander around confused, and find out that Lima (like the bean you moron, how many times do I have to tell you?) has many towns with the street we are looking for...we are in the wrong f'n town.  Another cab...Miraflores this time, but this time the guy boots us out 4 blocks from the f'n restaurant...another WTF?  Finally we find it...

Dora was irritated by the time we got there, so she ordered Pisco...Pisco is short for pissed and comatose...she was.  When we got a cab, Dora was waving her hands wildly, and shouting at the top of her lungs................INSIDE THE CAB!  We got to the hotel and Dora fell out of the cab...hardly touched the ground , and bounced up saying she was OK!!!  Over my shoulder she went, and we entered the hotel to the tune of "Melancholy Baby"...all the way up to the room in the elevator, and into the room.  Today, we were to meet Talya's son and wife for lunch.  Dora said it was a half hour walk from the hotel...the short story is we were SOOOOOO lost that the cops had to escort us to the house after flagging down a cab for us...we had been wandering for 5-6 hours.  Dora disputes this, but that's what it seemed like.
Amigos, that's it for Peru...tomorrow is our last day!  Our flight leaves at 2 am, that sucks, but I'll be pissed anyway....adios.........adios...............TLD OUT!!!!

The countdown has started....

We start our 5th and final week in Peru today (Monday)!  Today's post will be a recap of our trip, with some photos that didn't make the first go-round...but not in any particular order.  This was in Peru, but alcohol makes it hard to say for sure...
...same with this one...
...I don't know how I missed the statue of the President of the TLD fanclub!
Everyone wants Machu Picchu....here ya go...

I couldn't help but put in one of my favourite old lady...she's a tough one!
When the old lady told this guy that TLD was in town, he almost fell over...
Cusco has ...ummm, well less than private public toilets.  These women saw TLD relieving himself...

Cusco doesn't do this for just anyone...
A few more misc. shots...

...and the last couple from Talya's garden...

And finally, this poor old lady had walked 53.5 miles to meet TLD, and just missed me!  Oh well.
Unless something monumental happens between now and Thursday, that's it from Cusco.  Next stop, Lima!  Grab your Llama, and sit on a banana...TLD out!
