More ulla than Bad...

Badulla is a very friendly place.  They may have culture here, but there aren't enough bars to tell.  Some of the stuff they have here is old, but I'm not sure if it's older than some of my underwear...hard to tell.  We saw two obese beggars today...with gold capped teeth!  hmmmmmm  The food is wonderful...well, except for breakfast at our hotel...I want to direct you to how evenly distributed the pepper on my egg is...
...this is Cassandra's photo...I didn't bring my camera to breakfast.  As far as I could tell, the pepper covered up the salt.  We just had lunch, even though it's the middle of the night for most of you...then headed off to a mosque because some holy guy (or something) told us 3000 people were coming at noon for some special day...I think Billy Graham was speaking, but I'm not sure...I KNOW it's not Popey...we'd be havin' beers and stealin' tuktuks!  Anyway, outside the mosque were these kids hamming it up for the camera...
...and smilin' Siid...used car salesman...
...and these women hanging around out by the gate...
...but the Muslims aren't the only game in town...the Hindus, not to be outdone, were having their own shindig...
...and out front were these people...
 ...and this is main street...

...I can see Spielberg doing Badulla Graffiti with tuktuks!  Tomorrow we catch the paint shaker back to Colombo for a couple days, then down to a place called Galle...I thought I might top up...you can never have too much!

We be Badulla...

8+ hours to go 185 kms...not the speediest train, but pretty...really pretty (the views not the train)!  We started early...well, sort of...got to the station at 8:30 am to catch the 8:47 to Badulla...isn't that a movie?  Cool, old train station...
...two young girls from Denmark...down boys...
...got on the train, and was immediately surrounded by the French old hippie, bad tattooed, assisted living tour, headed by this freak who thought he was an American (or Canadian for that matter) Indian...
...this guy wanted to be Tonto...he was instantly attracted to me, of course.  Anyway, Cassandra got the good side of the train...lots of good photo ops...me, I got Tonto.  I pushed her aside to get a couple shots...this one seemed to need some #9 coal (most of you are too young to know what I'm talking about)...
...here's a little help...

...ok, so I'm old.  On the day-long trip I got a couple of flowers...
...some nice God's light...
...from a moving train eh...go ahead say it...ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...ya baby!  So we got to Badulla...
...and immediately bought our tickets out...I know, sounds bad-ulla, but they sell train tickets in a strange way here.  Lookie here, they locked the ticket booth...
...did a drive by on the town...wish Popey was with us...woulda terrorized em!  hahahahahahaha  Got some chow, and beer...kicked back on our balcony to watch the sun go down...
...then saw they were making a remake of The Birds...
...glad you guys finally woke up and gave me the respect I deserve...me 'n Popey are Badulla!!!

Golf in Sri Lanka...and stuff

Sure doesn't take long for people to get bored...3 page views yesterday and no comments for 3  days...is this thing still working?  Maybe you should come to Sri Lanka and have your busted fingers fixed at this clinic...when our tuktuk broke down we had it fixed there...
...met this old guy waiting for the tuktuk surgery...nip and tuktuk...
...then to the golf course...
...cow mowers on the driving range...
...kids fishing in the water hazard...having a hell of a time!
...two budding fashion models...
The next day...today, but tomorrow for you, we went to a graveyard...
...old Ceylon military graveyard from the mid eighteenth century...people died real young back then...
...lunch at the Muslim Hotel...meet smilin' Moustafa...
...I think this is a statue of Ravi Shankar...I thought he was Indian...anyway...
...the front desk at a hotel we aren't staying at...
...then we stumbled across the worlds strongest man competition...
...and for my buddy Luf, who can't seem to make a comment if his life depended on it (and it does! Muuuhahahahahaha!)...
...what a coincidence...ran across Luf's younger brother...
Off to a town that starts with a B...I think...maybe Badulla, tomorrow.  Somebody read this thing...anyone out there?

First day in Kandy...

...was a bit of an off day...we walked around looking for golf balls.  Yep, golf balls!  You see, we are playing golf tomorrow at the most beautiful golf course in Sri Lanka!  Lot's of pics from there I think, but today we just walked around looking for golf balls to play with...
Anyway, there was a fat guy statue up on the hill...
...and first thing in the morning we walk out of the hotel and this guy was across the street...
...but eventually, we met Meeadh, an English lecturer who had written several English language books published in Sri Lanka, India, and Pakistan...cool guy!
We met him in a tiny bookstore where Cassandra was buying old stamps...he had to take a telephone call, and went out into the hallway...
...going back to the hotel I saw this beautiful lady...
...and these two rather interesting men...
I'm rather fond of Sri Lanka...especially the food.  I'm not going to tell you what we ate because I don't really know...but it was delicious!
