Here's to both of you!
With the overwhelming response to proceed....from both of you..........I will continue. We have been in Florence for 3 days...nice weather except for the second day when we went to the Pitti Palance...but I'll get to that later. Day 1, we tried to return our rental car at the airport. Apparently Italians don't need no stinking signs for stuff like airport returns...nope, they just drive around like madmen, and hope for the best. It only took us 3 hours to navigate the 1/2 hour drive...according to the WORST nav system in history in our MG! Anyway, we managed to finally find where to go, and found out the car had been smashed before we got it...YAHOO, a mostly honest car rental agency!!! From the airport, we took a tram that woud deposit us within a 5 minute walk to our hotel! However, the tram broke down about a mile from hotel, and we had to walk. So far, TLD is hating Florence. We finally found our hotel by the time they got the tram running again...sigh. Our hotel is a short walk from some big church called "The Basilica"... It's one big, honkin' church...if yer into that kinda thing! They have statues everywhere...I guess this lady is famous......and here is the top at sunset... So that was the first day, the second day went like this......and another big ass church! They are big on knockers in Italy...excuse my french... I think this was homage to The Gunfight at the OK Corral... Then we went to The Pitti Palace...........hmmmmmmm, interesting name.......What do you suppose this is? Then it started to rain...look at the rivers coming off the roof!...After drying off, we had dinner here... That's all folks!

ReplyDeleteI just love Florence .. so many people there though. We were there 20 years ago! Definitely need to go back. Keep sending the photos!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see that TLD rides again!!
ReplyDeleteLunga vita Firenze!!!
ReplyDeleteWow what amazing pictures, and the commentary is uh spectacular!!
ReplyDeleteI think the statue looks a little bit like TLD on one of his off days after a few too many Grappas or Limoncellos. Put it in your saddlebag and bring it home...as a memento you know.
