Rovinj part 2
After risking my life to get photos of Rovinj for you from the top of the tower of death, I decided I would take a little stroll down to the waterfront...Not a bad little skiff, eh? Here is the waterfront...full of cafe's...and the odd tourist...Some flowers along the way......and a few more of Rovinj... I'm drunk enough after dinner to stop posting photos...just my eloquent, and timely prose. You'll be sorry!
Rovinj...(Roveen)
We are in Croatia...got here last night for the start of Dora's art classes. Everything went well until we were to walk to our first night dinner. The restaurant was an easy 20 minute walk from the hotel...sounds like a piece of cake, right? It was lightly raining when we started...that turned into a torrential downpour for the entire walk, and then some. We estimated that it 2-3 inches in less than a half an hour!!!Not a single person arrived dry...we had umbrella's and the rain came down so hard that we got wet under the umbrella! Anyway, today was a little better...hardly any rain. This is Rovinj......and this is our little hotel... So I'm skipping to day 2...sun is out, and I'm feeling ambitious! Remember the tower in the background of the rain photo...I'm going to climb it...all 42,000 steps of 3" wide, rotting old wood treads, 40 stories high...ya, ambitious, and really stupid! I should have known better...remember The Exorcist?Anyway, Rovinj is beautiful...Eventually we have to eat...and Dora has to paint...There are flowers around all the tables... Very dapper lady in orange (her scarf and shoes matched her hat)......and a guy that looked like a movie star......and as the sun was going down, that damned tower again......and finally, the sunset...

Trieste...did I spell that right?
Before we went to Trieste, I got a few pics of Dora in action......and this enormous church... After that, I needed a drink...voila, coffee martini, and goodies... Off to Trieste...off to a very different kind of city compared to what we've seen so far. Wide, open streets, all kinds of cars...more North American than Italian......and check out this fountain! The theme was "A woman can do the work of two men, and smile at the same time!".....our last meal in Trieste was at Bistro 51, a 5 star Dora found! I have no idea what this little blob of goodness was, but it was DELICIOUS!!!Then I had some steak tartare......and then we split some pasta......and finally some steak chunks......easily the best meal of our trip so far! Tomorrow, Croatia!
