I've calmed down...Soriano, day 6!

...this is the view from the top of the fort...all tiny, 92 circular staircase steps!!!

The Lone DeRanger is a death defying kinda guy. so I did that for you mere mortals! It took 300 years to build this fort...who knows, labour strikes, war...stuff takes time I guess. Anyway, from the mid 1800's to 1989 it was a prison. They didn't show us any of the cells, except for solitary, and there wasn't enough light in there to take a photo...needless to say, NASTY!!! Here are the steps leading to the tower stairs, and the solitary cells they would show us...

There were a few odd things about this prison/fort...this is a face carved into the stone...

And this statue outside the warden's office...

Personally, I think the warden was related to Trump. We had to take the usual streets to get to the fort...

Along the way there was a church with a golden Elvis iside...

...I walked down into the town square, and dropped into the tourism office......oops, nobody speaks english there, sorry. At that point I thought I would introduce myself to Mr. Moretti...aaaaaaahhhh, that's more like it!

After we had dinner, we decided to go for a walk to enjoy the evening...this is part of what we saw...

What the hell kind of country is this? Don't they know who I am? I'm the Lone f'n DeRanger...show some respect! So we went to a town called Orvietto...how bad can it be you say...I'm on my second glass of wine and I'm about to give you the truth...not the orange f'n tramp version, the REAL thing!!! FIRST, for f sake someone creamed our rental car...scrapped the whole passenger side...pisstank drivers here, if they aren't up your ass on the highway, or road, or hey f you up in the parking lot...shit!!! It may not help that by Italian standards, we are driving a stretch limo...WHATEVER!!! It's an MG SUV for gawd sake...kinda like driving a Mac truck in a bowling alley. I swear I'm gunna kick someones ass!! Anyway, we went to this piece of crap town called Orvietto...the big draw is the most gawdy church you ever saw...

It's like the terratzo circus came to town and did a number on this church. Don't get me wrong, they did a really good job of over-decorating this place...there are sculptures and shit everywhere. Look at this...probably 40 feet high...

All that seems impressive, but it's a lot of alter boys getting you know...hmmm, I'm listening to Slave to Love...seems appropriate....but I digress. Once inside this madness, I saw these statues...

And they had this one to scare the alter boys...so they could do, you know...

I had to get the hell outta there...made my butt hurt! Anyway, we saw a lot of this kind of shit...

And just so ya know, it took me 4 hours to do this with one bar of internet...we are staying at the Motel 6 in Soriano...it's either clean the toilet or internet! I don't know what this last one is...f it...anyone out there?

Soriano, day 4

I was up early today, and got these of the sun coming up...

That was at 5am....I think I'm getting old, cuz I needed a nap in the afternoon. Post-nap, off to see a different view of Soriano...

Italy is very much like China........

..............EVERYONE IS DEAF!!! Either that or everyone wants to share whatever they are talking about! Here we are on our third day...we are still orbiting Jupiter, but carrying on anyway! Today we decided to go to lake. My good buddy Ernie Mossetti (very experienced Italy traveller, has lost all credibilty) told us it would be hot. If by hot he meant cold, then he was right on! It has been cool and rainy, occasionally sunny and almost warm. So we went to a lake, and it had a fort there for dwarfs...cool!
