First day in Hong Kong...would that make me King Kong?

This place is really coooooool!  It's like New York city on steroids...that includes how much things cost!

First, they make everything out of bamboo...
...it seems they make spaghetti skyscrapers...tall and thin.  Alexa and Tristan live pretty much right dowtown...that green bamboo thing is about a half a block away.  So when I got up yesterday morning, it was 8am Hong Kong time, 4pm Vancouver time, and if I'd known what planet I was on, I'm sure it would have been an altogether different time.  I went out on the balcony and got the green thing shot, then looked down the road and got this one...
...just a butcher dragging a pig carcass across the sidewalk...welcome to Hong Kong!  Tristan was our guide for the first day, and took us somewhere on the subway, taxi, and on foot...I have no idea where we were, but this is what we saw...
...that building with the gold insert will show up again at night...
...I think the last building is some sort of hotel...but it could be someones former residence...
...a little tacky, but not as tacky as this necklace!  Imagine, Casstonto didn't want it!
We were down by the water at that point...
...and took the Star ferry back to somewhere over there.  There is that building again...
When we got off at the dock, Tristan pointed out the 118 story building back where we came from...and said that's where Alexa's office is!  We are going there sometime...shit, I need a drink!
Back to the condo for a bit of a rest, then off for a massage.  Some little Thai girl kicked the crap out of me for an hour, and it only cost $25...SUCH A DEAL!!!  It gets dark about 6:30 here, so after dinner, we walked down to the water, past that old hotel or something...
  ...and BEHOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I missed the laser light show they shoot off every night at 8:00pm, but will get to see it from the bar on the 118th floor of Alexa's building sometime.  Now it's time to hike up some damned mountain, and die!

  1. Doug: Upon viewing your opening King Kong man of the palace photo, the apple juice intended for my esophagus rerouted up my right nostril. Thanks for the giggles and sinus issues. Glad to see you and Cassandra are off again, please give Alexa and Tris hugs and kisses. Enjoy!!! xo Lesley

  2. Climbing up a mountain should be no problem for a hairy steroidal ape (King Kong). Love the photos. Brings back some memories.

  3. Kong, Hi! You may be in Hong Kong, but you're not the only who travels. I am in San Francisco right now!!!!!!! And if I had a travel blog I would send you a photo of the new Bay Bridge span that I drove across. Maybe I will anyway!!!!!
